A Beginner’s Guide To Buying The Perfect Giftlunchbox
Looking for the perfect gift but have no idea where to start? Don’t sweat it. Luckies have got you covered…
Step 1: Do your research. The first logical step of the gift-giving experience is to ask one very simple question: “So, what do you want for your birthday?”. If you get a straight answer, breathe a sigh of relief. If you don’t get a straight answer, then you’re going to have to do a little bit of extra work. And remember: no gift vouchers allowed!
Step 2: Do even more research. Those of an overly-humble disposition (we’re looking at you, Mum) often insist that they “don’t want any presents”, yet would be secretly disappointed if we dared turn up to their annual birthday meal at Pizza Express empty-handed. At times like these, you’ve got to dig a little deeper. Probe Dad for clues. If he’s no use, ask her best mate Brenda, Auntie Carol or even Val from the hair salon until one of them tips you off. Boom.
Step 3: If all else fails, be creative. Get off Amazon and think outside the box. Dad’s got enough socks. Your sister’s got enough pairs of shoes. Your best mate has got enough novelty beer helmets. Have a good think about what the birthday girl/boy would really like, but would never think of buying themselves. If Dad likes cooking, stock up on his chef’s essentials and check out the Luckies Kitchen & Home section – after all everyone needs a Yolkfish in their lives. If your sister likes travelling, get her a travel diary, a fancy new lens for Her camera or best of all a Scratch Map. If your best mate really loves beer that much, book a brewery tour… OK, and get him another beer helmet. After all, it is tradition.
Step 3: Go shopping. Only joking. Don’t do that.
Step 4: Go online shopping. Ah, that’s better. With a few clicks, gifts/tickets/art materials for “sock bunnies” in the style of Pheobe Buffay (seriously?!) will be on the way to your humble abode. And do you know what that means? More time to lie in bed watching Netflix. Winner.
Step 5: Quality control. Is the item as described? Is it broken or damaged? And most importantly, is is the right size? Because trust us, hell hath no fury than a size 10 woman who’s just received a dress five sizes too big. Whoops.
Step 6: Find a good hiding place. Little brothers are nosy – and you really don’t want him looking under your bed, do you now?
Step 7: Wrap it up, and a buy a nice card to go with it. Ta-da! You’re done. Give yourself a pat on the back, and go and have a slice of birthday cake. You’ve earned it.
